![]() Philipos Manziridis - Seminar 3rd-4th May 2008 Ninjutsu
is the Art of the Ninja.
A Ninja was someone whose very existence expressed the spirit of budô.
He would protect himself with techniques not of assassination but rather
of sensation and an acute awareness of his natural surroundings. He
would avoid unnecessary conflict, and even if armed with a blade would
find a way to win without staining it, using minimal effort
and inflicting minimal injury necessary to neutralize his opponent.
These are the true techniques of Ninjutsu, and the art in which Ninja
persistently trained. An art and tradition handed down orally, from
generation to generation. An art we are fortunate enough to have handed
down to us today thanks to Dr Masaaki Hatsumi the 34th Grandmaster
of Togakure-Ryû Ninjutsu
in Japan.
The art and tradition in which we
here in Cyprus today, persistently train and try to preserve, under the guidance and instruction of Sensei Michael Efstathiou( +357 99616750 ).Ninjutsu has its roots in the martial ,religious, political and cultural histories of the ancient island nation of Japan. Evolving out of necessity, during various times of political turmoil and total civil chaos, when day-to-day survival of ones family depended on personal strength, resourcefulness, and creativity. The ways of Japan's legendary ninja night warriors created an underground counterculture that provided the means and inspirations for surviving, despite overwhelming odds. The warrior tradition of the shinobi clans fostered the development of a living personal art that blended components of devastating combat skills, finely tuned powers of intuition, and practiced abilities to transform intention to reality, using the powers that be, to visualise and become. Ninjutsu is one of the few surviving martial arts which has maintained its traditional warrior heritage and still teaches actual combat techniques. While most martial arts have moved away from their roots to emphasize sport and competition training. Ninjutsu offers its students training for real combat, with highly effective, sophisticated techniques refined over generations in real combat. Ninjutsu is the most appropriate art alive today, for those interested in practical martial arts training for real combat, rather than sports and competition. The history of the Ninja is long and ancient. Some say it goes back over 2,500 years, but records have been found dating the history of the Ninja going back as far as 4,300 years ago. Note: some photos used on this website were taken from various books by Dr Maasaki Hatsumi, strickly for information purposes to portray a clearer message of the activities of the Bujinkan dojo, for current Cyprus students and potential Cyprus Students to come.
